Happy Ressurection Day!

Well, I had every intention of writing on this blog starting the first of the year. However, you know how that goes. I guess I wasn't too serious about my weight loss at that time. Now it is a different story.

First off...Happy Easter to everyone! It is a day to celebrate the risen Christ! I pray that this day finds you with lots of love, hope, peace and time with your families.

Okay, onto weight loss. I have been doing the DASH Diet the past two weeks, with some encouragement from my darling niece, who has lost around 25 lbs! She rocks! For me, I have had no sweets, including bread and pasta for a whole 14 days! Today starts phase two where you start adding in small quantities of those foods. It has been a challenge for sure. I almost wavered a few times. But this is what I wanted, to get the sugar out of my body and to know that yes, I can do without it. I was really hoping that it would stop my sugar craving but not sure it really has. That is how much I love sweets! It has taught me that I need to limit that kind of food instead of woofing down a whole box of toffee sandies like I was doing

The good news is that I have officially lost 10 lbs. since I started! I am really hoping that I can stick to this healthy way of life. Like I said, it was tough. I am more of a fruit eater than veggies. In fact, if I never have another veggie, it may make me happy. :) So, I am on the road to a healthier life! Yay!

Oh, and I signed this blog up for the yearly A-Z challenge once again. Maybe this way, I will keep up with this. Look for daily posts, at least through April.

Have a wonderful Easter!

Happy New Year's!

Today is the first day of the new year. A time for new beginnings and those pesky resolutions. Mine seems to always be the same thing...to get myself more organized, get rid of my very negative attitude and of course, to lose weight. I start out okay but go back to my old self. This year is the same old resolutions but I am darned and determined to get myself healthy.

However, like I said in my first post, I will stumble. I wasn't quite serious about it today. I don't think I was ready but who really is? I am going to set some small goals each week to get started . I pigged out on peach pie today but tomorrow is a new day. My goal for this week is to stop going to McDonald's for a large Coke. This is so very hard for me because I love their Coke's with extra ice. Is that bad??

So, now that the holidays are over, it will get a little easier to handle. Might have to throw away all the chocolate candy sitting around though.

Here's to the road to a healthy life!

Weight Loss and a Healthy Life

Welcome to my new blog. I decided that this might be a good way to keep me accountable in my eating habits in order to lose some unwanted weight and to start feeling better. A new year is a good time to begin this journey. I love food, especially sugar. I LOVE pastries...has anyone ever had the ear claw from Panera Bread or scones from Starbuck's?? Excellent! Now that I have your mouth watering, it is time to start thinking about cutting back on all that stuff. Not totally eliminating them, but just not eating that kind of food everyday.

Today is New Year's Eve so starting tomorrow, I am starting fresh. I will certainly stumble along the way but I am only human. I am determined to be successful this time. I know I can do it. I get discouraged quite easily though. I also have fibromyalgia which really discourages me big time! But that is even more reason for me to get healthy. Thanks in advance for sharing in this journey with me. It will certainly be a challenge. Now, let's do it!
